Massachusetts Green Ribbon School
Ipswich Middle-High School is officially a Massachusetts Green Ribbon school! This award recognizes schools that reduce environmental impacts and costs, work to improve the health and wellness of their school, students, and faculty, and provide effective and complete environmental and sustainability education. Joanna Mullen and Eva Capobianco applied for the award this winter, and we hope to become a National Green Ribbon School in May.
Disposable Bag Ban
Ipswich has a very important change: single-use plastic bags and Styrofoam containers will be a thing of the past for Ipswich, thanks to the initial proposal and continued efforts from the last IHS Sustainability class.
Ipswich Democratic Award
"The members of the Ipswich Democratic Town Committee each year selects an organization or individual demonstrating the aspirations contained in the Massachusetts Democratic Platform. Our 2017 award goes to Lori LaFrance and her Sustainability Scholars for their tireless efforts to affect change in the public's perception of packaging and other contributors to pollution and global warming."
